I was sued recently. I cannot afford a lawyer, and I don't qualify for pro bono services. Gemini Pro comes with my Workspace account, so I used it for my Answer. I never would've been able to produce an Answer of superior quality within the deadline without AI. But I also put 40+ hours into it myself at the same time. I researched, I double checked Gemini's resources, I wrote my own drafts first when possible, I changed the formatting of the document, and I rewrote or rephrased quite a bit of the AI generated text. I even got into arguments with Gemini over planning and strategy, some of which I won and some of which I lost. And as far as spellchecking, grammar, and organization, it was invaluable when my eyes started to glaze over and I was missing errors. I have deep reservations about AI. I use locally-run AI when I can, for both privacy and environmental reasons. Local AI keeps getting easier as the months go on. And I'm hoping for AI models built with ethically sourced training data. Because today's models were made by stealing everything from everybody.
