To me this is like saying that using google or some other search engine and then using the results in your work is stealing someone's work. I don't understand the fear artists have wrt to AI. In a same way AutoCAD or Excel doesn't make you an engineer, AI will not make you an artist. But it will make a good engineer much more effective and it will make good artist much more effective. It will also enable lot of mediocre people who want to create images based on their ideas. And it will not endanger artists in a same way as cameras on mobile phones didn't endanger professional photographs. Don't be luddite about it, you're great artist yourself, mate. You'll be fine.
In a same way as the greatest asset of a programmer isn't actually mechanically writing the code, but rather knowing how to break down problems and how to materialize them in a algorithmic space, the greatest asset of an artist isn't the mechanical skills, it's the ability to recognize what is beautiful and what is not.
