The large issue here is the spend is unsustainable and the circular funding pattern is prone to collapse. OpenAI likely lost $12B in a quarter. The current model is not likely to be profitable. So while I think something will come of it, this first wave is very likely to collapse with those that remain focused on lowering costs dramatically - like by 80% or more. This will lead to much more specialized models.
