I very politely and tentatively queried an AI answer to a maths based problem I posed, suggesting a possible omission in the calculations. The response? “You are absolutely correct! My previous response was incorrect.
I am still under development. Thank you for pointing out my mistake and helping me learn!”
I encouraged AI to retry. After repeated attempts at re-solving the problem, AI gave up. “I apologize for the repeated errors. I am still under development and learning to accurately account for all expenses and properly evaluate profit margins.”
I didn’t feel so daft for not knowing the answer after all that.
