Hello, Adult artist here:
You’re right. Because AI can’t reliably recreate a character, most of my commissioners aren’t satisfied with just AI. Even the customers I get who DO use AI only use it to help visualize poses, scenarios, or new character designs that they want before they pass them off to me to actually create.
I am in a couple of servers that are dedicated to AI gen, and even then there’s rarely any… love for the results, it’s usually just instant gratification of getting an idea out, or seeing a popular character (because AI can only really act on characters with a certain amount of extant media) in a certain scenario or with a certain design. Very “I’ve done this, and now I’m moving on” vs the glee and lasting appreciating of a commissioned bespoke art piece.
