You know what a good 'insurance policy' for AI might be? Building in to it a reverence/admiration for something that it could never completely understand. Like art perhaps - you can't ever point to a single piece of art and say it's the absolute best. Not just paintings but all forms of art. It's defined by the most undefinable elements of humanity, often insane geniuses or fringe types, so AI won't ever be able to fully control it and it will always need humanity with it's flaws to keep pushing it forward.
