It doesn't matter if the car is autonomous or not, you should never be behind the wheel on your phone/device.
The car should of detected the person due to it using radar/lidar, not just recording visible light.
The idiot pedestrian should have looked left and right before crossing a huge highway. Must of been drugged up/drunk maybe. I hear she was battling homelessness so it could be possible. Darwin award.
