The reason UBI won't help us is that it just takes away our power. When the economy is run by AI what incentive does the government have to maintain democracy? The people are useless economically and pose no threat to the AI military, so they are of no concern. Whether the AI is in complete control or a small group of humans at the top are in charge the conclusion is the same, no need to appease the masses or do what they say to maintain power, you can just take it, UBI will be seen as an unnecessary burden. And it will be so easy to sleepwalk into this position if UBI and a booming economy appeases us and gives us false hope. Better hope that whoever/whatever is in change REALLY cares about the rest of us.
