Being from both Personality and Interests closer to the "techbros" , the point missed from "Then you dont need to spend hours training, practicing" etc. The Version I know and suspect i originated from is automatisation within manufacturing industries. I.E make production more efficient so workers have more time to enjoy life.
First of all why the concept doesnt apply.
You only want to shorten time on something you ! have ! to do, but dont really want to do.
And 2nd point, it simply didnt come true. Automatisation didnt lead to more free time, simply to less workers i.e less costs for corporations.
