The issue with AI vs human art, any kind of it, is that AI does not have context to go off of - as good as it can be at predicting the next suitable word (understanding how human language works) or making words into an image (assigning images to words), it doesn't "get" what that word or image means, for it never touched, felt, loved or felt sadness. The only shared experiences we can share, if crudely and distantly with AI is the joy and pain - reward and punishment mechanism used in training, but even then AI cannot assign those feelings to bits of input data. It's basically as if you were told about a city in a country you have never visited before. You can look at images, read about the city, talk to folks from it, but if you try to impersonate someone that has lived in that city, you will still be off. It can be egregious, if you haven't researched enough, it can be subtle if you have almost encyclopaedic knowledge, but you will still be "off", which will be felt by the person that actually lived in that city. Now imagine you have no idea how to love, breathe or how apples taste like. How painful it is to be hit in the face, how can you feel the rumble of a starting engine, how the wind feels like on your skin, but you still have to write a whole story about it. This is the reason AI art is called "soulless" - not because we as humans have that unique "soul" thing machines have, but because to make human art you need to have experienced being a human. It is not impossible in theory, but it's not something AI companies are doing now But to refute the accusations of AI being completely useless - AI is actually really hecking good at menial tasks and interpreting commands. I use AI in coding, but only for menial things like tests or changing all names in a project to camelCase, which removes lots of tedium from work and allows to focus on problem-solving. I also seen a person make a home assistant with it that can understand your commands, engage with the smart-home systems and chat back, which I find really cool! But yeah, the way they are shoving AI into every hole currently is... questionable
