This is a one sided biased an incomplete presentation about a very complex group of converging technologies that is advancing so quickly that I can hardly keep up with developments even though in my nearly 50 years as an engineer I've worked in these industries. If we don't develop AInow, somebody else will sooner or later. The current motive now is only money and competition is fierce. Others who develop it might have far more malevolent motives so this is the lesser evil. That's one way to look at it. The largest AI data center for the Time being is Elon Musk's Colossus 2. It's being built in South Memphis Mississippi. Its water source is waste water. It has built its own water treatment plant to create very pure water. Once the system is filled, the water is recycled so only makeup water due to losses such as evaporation is needed after. The water is used to cool the computer chips which generate enormous heat. What is AI computing? All prior computers solved problems sequentially one step after another after another. The brains is called a CPU Computer Processing Unit. Nvidia which made graphic interface products usually for serious computer gamers uses GPUs graphics processing units. It breaks down programs and solves each part in parallel and so is much faster than CPUs. The chips currently used in NVIDIA file servers cost fro $25,000 to $40,000 each. NVIDIA owns all of the patents. There is only one company in the world that manufactures machines that can make these high end chips. ASML is a company in the Netherlands that makes these machines. Each machine costs $400 million. China cannot buy these high end machines. They are trying to figure out how to build one like it but so far they can't. Today I just learned a new term, EI which stands for emotional intelligence. 7 robot models were tested for 72 hours. They were ranked. Surprisingly the most expensive one Sophia which costs $250,000 was the worst. The cheapest model which h costs $1,400 was best. Colossus 2 is being built to develop AGI for the Optimus robots. AGI artificial generalized intelligence is intended to think like a human only much smarter. Musk uses the example of a robot walking across a room. If a child runs in front of it the AI robot will crash into it, the AGI robot will know to stop. One of countless goals of AI is to obsolete all human labor. Combined with other technologies like robotics and 3D printing it will be able to manufacture anything in any desired quantity cheaply. So will it put doctors out of business? Yes. In 15 years a complete medical exam will involve disrobing and standing in front of a s reen that will scan every atom, every molecule, every process in your body and determine everything wrong with you and prescribe the right medications. If you need an operation, AI robots will perform it. It will replace farmers, miners, just about anything. Limitless wealth in any form and quantity. Money will lose its meaning. Poverty will be abolished. New scientific discoveries and engineering inventions will be created by AI. This is in its infancy. President Trump has removed all bureaucratic obstaes to its progress.
