Being upset with the process and the tools isn't productive. AI is here to stay. To those who agree with this video — I challenge you to try and view AI through the following lens: 1. Creativity is the ability to come up with novel concepts and test them quickly against established norms — If this is even close to the truth, then AI must be a fantastic artistic tool! 2. Should art be discounted just because the artist isn't capable of producing the work him/herself? — who are you to judge? 3. Can a 12-year-old with almost no life experience be a true artist, or are they just good at mimicking other artists? 4. Is pop art bad because the artist usually haven't created all the graphic elements him/herself? 5. What is the difference between AI and other tools that make artists more productive, like special effects in cinematography, photoshop, electronic instruments/samples, acoustic instruments, brushes to paint with, colour pigment etc.? The way I see it, AI is currently an exceptional tool for creativity (yes, creativity in the truest form!). It also helps remove the barrier to entry (you don't have to be good at painting, composing music etc. to make good art). This enables a lot of people to express themselves artistically, which in return makes more art! You don't have to like all artforms (heck, I can't stand the opera or ballet). Yes, this will lead to inflation of art and make it harder to earn a living as an artist, but I'm not sure that is a bad thing if more people get to express themselves artistically and also more people enjoy and consume more niche art etc. While it isn't done 100% yet, AI currently has the capability to judge its work and feed it back to its training data to become better artists than humans can dream of becoming (yes — more attuned to what humanity collectively agrees is good art). Just like Chess and Go, art will be fully "solved" as AI comes up with novel "move 37's" that humans can't even dream up currently. Certainly, this will lead to an explosion of art that would likely drown most artists and make it extremely tough to pursue a career in "organic, free range human art", but there will still be people that are hungry for such experiences, and as such, there will still be a market for it. Personally, I love art, and see only upsides of this. True creatives will be creative enough to come out on top and the others... maybe we should let them sink...
