Just accept the ever-approaching singularity. Over the centuries, everyone else's jobs were taken by automation, and the response was always to keep up with the times, adapt to the new technology, and learn a new skillset. Well, now it's the artists' turn, so keep up with the times, adapt to the new technology, and learn a new skillset. People struggle to afford art, and AI is the solution to artists who charge more than a week's worth of groceries for a simple picture. I've seen commissions go for $500+ USD, and that's just not happening.
Rather than sabotage your competition, why don't you try offering a better service? That's called the free market; get used to it, because everyone else had to get used to it ever since the wheel made moving heavy objects more accessible to the less meatheaded.
And in regards to the argument at 10:46, here's the other things I need time to do to where I can't learn to make art in the styles that I like.
I'm a musician with two days in the studio every week. I play three instruments regularly- in total, I have learned to play five instruments- all of which I taught myself how to play because I could never afford lessons. I also sing, which I was fortunate enough to get one single lesson in my entire life.
I raise and train two dogs that are in my family, and am a part-time dog trainer, which I spent over a decade learning the secrets to working with dogs.
A few years ago, I moved back in with my parents who are getting up in age, and have needed help around their house. The money I saved by giving up my apartment is easily undone by the fact that I used to split my expenses with a roommate, and now I have to pay all of my own expenses in full.
For a short while, I was also a streamer's BTS artist, on-call musician, player 2, and something of a manager, and even landed them a partnership with a brand.
I go to a gym three to four days a week to maintain my physical health.
I've been learning to read Braille because of degenerative vision that I was born with, and has been degrading for my entire life.
Do you want me to keep going? Or should I maybe discuss the fact that I used to be an artist back in high school, where I was taught to make my art with nothing but a mechanical pencil, and the moment I tried to pursue artistry outside of high school, everyone demanded digital art with software I couldn't afford, usable only on hardware that I also couldn't afford, and that all of my freehand drawing training that took four years of my education didn't mean anything to anyone, and nobody would offer to train me on the new tech.
Maybe I could bring up how I used to work in customer service jobs, but was routinely phased out due to automation.
Maybe I should bring up that I was desperate enough to try manufacturing, and got phased out due to automation.
Maybe you want to hear about how I learned to play the drums, only to find out everyone was using drum machines to phase drummers out through automation.
How about how I learned to master creating feedback loops with my guitar and amplifier, only to find out that you can just buy an effects pedal that will play back any number of programmable feedback sound effects on demand, meaning my skill was phased out due to automation.
I could even point out that there's currently also AI music generation, phasing out musicians, singers, and songwriters with automation... and yet you don't see me poisoning SoundCloud to corrupt AI music learning. Instead, I've been learning how to use this new technology, and adapt it to keep a human element that- for now- AI cannot replicate.
