It pre-dates internet images but I have a VHS tape of a "self driving" vehicle (not a car, but almost that size) I think at MIT, driving a couple inches, taking a picture, then taking about 10 minutes(!) to process the image on a big mainframe somewhere in the building, before doing the next move. Driving around obstacles too days.
