Tech and AI educator here! This is a double-edged sword right now that primarily comes down to an administration issue. There has been a constant push on the education 200-400 level to pack more into every curriculum and I don't see it being much better in the K-12 education space. Having had this discussion quite often with my peers, there's a pretty general consensus: In person, no phones or internet access, in class assignments and assessments. Or assignments done in a library. So yes, everyone is cheating, the students are stressed because of the pressure that seemingly comes from the teachers not realizing the administration and board is pressing the teachers to cram more into every classroom. Everyone is feeling the compression but the folks at the top and just trying to get by. It's not malicious, it is self preservation for all parties and it sucks.
