If you want to fix this problem, you're going to have to find a way to fix capitalism. The best interests of corporations directly contradicts the best interests of you: consumers and workers. But it is ironically also self-destructive.
This is happening because half of maximizing the bottom line is cutting costs. Corporations hate unions, because it costs them money to pay workers better wages. They'd rather have slaves. But what's better than a slave? Automation. Every worker they replace with a machine saves them hundreds of thousands of dollars each year, and that money isn't coming for you, it's going into the CEO's next Christmas bonus.
Now ask yourself, when 99% of the workplace is automated, how is anyone going to earn a living? How is anyone supposed to put food on the table when only 1% of the human population has an income? How are businesses supposed to make money when nobody has any money to buy their product?
The only solution I can think of is socialism: eliminate money and the concept of "for profit," and instead guarantee everyone has shelter, clean water, and food to eat. Then we can have more automation with fewer negative consequences.
