I'm currently reading the Singularity series by William Hertling. He started writing it in 2012 (he finished the series in 2017) and the first book takes place in 2015 and each successive book (out of the 4) takes place in 10 year increments. It starts out with a guy making an email chatbot type AI that knows how to persuade people and the 4th book is how humans and "true" AI (like Skynet) are living with, and attempting to overthrow humanity. The first book was definitely an unsettling read because it's essentially Gmail combined with ChatGPT.
