Not sure how this is aging because Claude Code is incredibly versatile at writing great code today. I sense LLMs like Claude Code Research preview and Gemini 2.5 only came out a few days before this post. I'd argue that the tone and thoughts of this video would have been different if it was released before these frontier models that make even GPT o3 seem mediocre in comparison. I am writing production-level, ship-ready Vision AI code (YOLO, MobileNET) application using Claude Code—and some direction from me—and the results are genuinely 'state of the art'. I'd argue that developers will become product engineers, as the focus will be on ensuring GenCode builds a compelling codebase (oversight + due diligence), and as the context limits and token sizes of these models become more generous, many of these code generators will have the memory and versatility to explore larger projects and refactor them. The framework for DevOps and SDLC will change, and we will have Mixture of Experts LLMs that will own each micro-service and commit them into larger apps.
