Having only camera is not safe for an autonomous vehicle. Multiple sensors are required for redundancy.
From the crash, it's clear that the fog made the camera input faulty.
Next, the lights from the emergency vehicles also creates bad input to the camera.
Radar is only able to detect there is an object, camera and Lidar are abke to determine what kind of object it is.
Cameras struggles in low visibility, rainy conditions and flashing lights.
