Andrew Yang proposed UBI also as a reason because of a perceived threat from AI and it sounds pretty good. Take from the massive profits that AI companies will earn (and likely have an extreme advantage in the marketplace) and distribute amongst the people. Its one way if viewing the perceived (and likely, very real) problem and it appears he was the only one proactive about it.
