In my opinion, AI art can be useful for those of us who'd like to make our own art for our books, comics, etc. but don't have the money, time , or patience to learn or devote to draw things that'd be trending on the DeviantArt homepage. But, yeah, copyright law is very rightfully a thing - we can't copyright ideas, but we can, and should, copyright particular derivative iterations of ideas - and I hope (probably in vain) that our legal systems will quickly crack down on the many legal gray areas or unprotected areas in copyright law that are being taken advantage of during the rise of AI.
