Humans barely recognize animal intelligence or that plant life has a type of intelligence as well. We may never recognize AI as fully cognizant, even if we reach a blade runner esc. future and have automata making art and telling us how they feel. It’s like how people think aliens would be bipedal with arms and a head. We can’t imagine intelligent life not being a reflection of us. Until we are comfortable with acknowledging things experience the world in a different but equally valid way to us, we will always be on an island thinking our reality is the only true on. Octopuses as an earthly example are incredibly intelligent but they don’t form societies with hierarchies or communicate in a way we understand. If it can’t drive fast cars and eat hot chip our intelligence must be superior.
