Full targetting autonomy is almost certainly active now. There's no other solution to high intensity electronic warfare transmissions. And then there's the relative ease of creating drones that can match visual target matching (to avoid use of microwave ovens to trick trackers and sensors) and emission intensity tracking.
A friend decided to learn machine learning automation last year. A class project was making a small raspberry pi run self driving vehicle. He showed it to me. It basically worked. And he was new to all the aspects of making these.
In consumer and industrial space automation has to use a lot of resources to avoid errors that might hurt someone. That type of error would not matter on actuve battlefield where position of enemy is known since any sensor match can lead to target destruction.
