Well, it is happening. I graduated as a translator just about the same time Google Translate started providing decent translations. The whole insdustry just folded in in a few years. My education which I paid for through the nose wasn't completely useless because I started tutoring online. I had no choice living a tiny city and not having an opportunity to move. Now we have ChatGPT, and I see how a lot of people start learning languages with it because it is free and always available. This year is the first time I’ve struggled to find new clients. A lot of colleagues are complaining about the same thing. I’ve invested a lot of time and money to get good at this profession, only to see it dying. Again.
