Brandon said, "It's OK to use AI to help society/humanity, like curing cancer." But...don't well-written books help society? It sounds like he's OK with putting biologists out of work (or forcing them to work alongside AI), but not (what he categorizes as) creative types.
Also, Brandon might be undervaluing the creative impact of AI. Maybe there are a lot of stories out there that would be great, but the author isn't skilled enough at writing. Or visual artwork, but the artist can't draw well enough. Or music, but the composer can't play well enough. Maybe AI would _release_ and _improve_ human creativity, rather than replace it.
But not current AI. Not yet. It's not good enough yet to replace skilled human creators. More importantly, I agree that the original human creators of the input to AI training should have to opt IN, rather than opt OUT.
