As someone who once programmed a chess engine to play against itself, I love having a tool (AI) that helps me write boilerplate code. At my DevOps SRE job, I was asked to create an ITSM integration with a customer’s ticketing system.
Instead of writing the coding part from scratch, I used AI to do it. It saved me a few days of work. But I still had to work work the client to test the integration, document it, show my teammates how it worked, move it to prod, etc. There was still a lot of other tasks that I had to do. AI in this case was more of an advisor than something that could do the real work.
