They aren't regretting shit. Every new technology initially produces less than ideal results, but when used on mass, they improve faster. Making this heavy automation push may hurt reliability and security short-term, but will result in massive gains in the next 5-10 years. I worked as a software developer for nearly 5 years before completing my masters and transitioning into machine learning engineering. The writing's on the wall. If you're a software developer thinking you'll be good for 10+ years, you won't be. Get out.
