Hii, disabled and neurodivergent artist here! Almost everyone I’ve seen in the community is against AI. I’m severely disabled by ME/CFS and and there’s only a very few extremely ill people I know of in my community that would actually benefit from it as an accessibility tool…and we have a chronic illness/disability that has a a similar average QoL to late stage cancer. I’m talking about people who are so ill and weakened they lie in a dark quiet room 24/7 except for medical caregiving, sometimes rely on tube feeding, sometimes can’t speak, and can’t use screens for more then a few minutes at a time. Art making is a human activity, and people of every ability and disability (with very limited exceptions like I mentioned) can do it There are so SO many ways to make art accessible without stealing on a massive scale and killing the planet, I’m literally traditionally painting in bed rn because I’ve been bedridden for the past 3 months. I also think it’s incredibly telling and important to call out that AI bros don’t give a shit about us unless they’re using us as a rhetorical human shield. I’ll respect their ideas a little more if they ever treat us like humans and not pawns.
