The reality is... we're going towards Wall-E.
The less purpose people have, the less desire they have to do anything, the less they do, the more they fall apart.
This is why any time AI takes over, everything else goes down the crapper. Remember when people stsrted dating AI? Guess what that lead us to... more antisocial people, less people having kids.
Life needs friction to survive, we're accelerating the process of removing all friction.
Think about the entertainment industry. Even without AI, once people got access to TV and video games, what happened to us? Less and less people go outdoors now, more and more people spend more time on the internet, more and more people spend more time sitting down.
Those same people, are now losing purpose in life... except to pursue that constant dopamine dripfeed.
