no it wont replace artists btw. the intelligence making these images is still artificial - hence AI - as in it simulates intelligence. its maintained this way by people, it doesn't just exist as a growing entity on its own. it needs data and parametering. both artists and ai engineers are needed to maintain a model so it does not go stale.
the problem here is data theft. for example if all artists withdrew their art from online platforms, and used tactics to poison their images and make unclean data before uploading them to internet (making them impossible to feed to an AI without wrecking it) - these AI models will stagnate and collapse. except for the ai models being made with the help and consent of artists - artists who are being compensated for their work.
data theft should be stopped and these companies doing data theft need legal trouble. but remember they will not replace artists
