I'm still of the opinion there shouldn't be any copyright. BUT this would only work in a post-capitalist world without huge corporations stealing/grabbing everything. Artists should be able to live decently without having to worry about how commercially viable their art is.
This is a HUGE "BUT"! And sadly I don't see capitalism ending any time soon and as long as there's capitalism we need some form of copyright to protect artists and their livelihood.
Generative AI is another attempt at removing artists from the production of art-shaped things for commercial gain. There's a human need for art and capitalism is exploiting it.
