as someone who studied AI in university and aims to build a career in it, it really bugs me that all the good and societally meaningful achievements of AI are overshadowed by "shiny toys" like generative AI and self-driving cars. AI can literally find cures for cancer and many more diseases, improve traffic in cities, make manufacturing safer and more sustainable, but all the big companies are investing into is stealing art for profit... i really hate it here
