Although this was a fun conversation to listen to, I 100% believe that AI is not conscious, or at least it doesn’t experience the same consciousness as we do. Stephen Wolfram talks about rulial space, which I would recommend checking out.
To keep an already long comment short, if you train an AI model on language with the tonality and semantics of consciousness, the model will mimic that behavior. Consider how the model refers to itself in the first person
