I don't see it as doomed, but weird. AI is a tool, and when used correctly, as in the movie Klause, it can help make a good story, but remember, it's a tool, not a hack, for writing. Instead of seeing this period of time as The Nothing, try looking at it like a blank slate for building on. Instead of being stuck looking through telescopes or microscopes, try a kaleidoscope.
