To help explain what I'm about to say, let's just use a "painting of an apple on a beach." If a human painted it, the scene would either be an easy-to-make-out "apple on a beach" and/or invoke the feeling of having an apple on a beach. because each stroke was applied with intent. There's care and intention behind human art, which is why it looks the way it does. Every person is different in some way, so no two artists will make the exact same painting, unless they're told to. While abstract art may be confusing to some, care and intent still applies. What an AI "painting of an apple on a beach" looks like is dependent on the software/AI model and the words used to describe the prompt. The AI is confined to what every dataset it was trained on. It only knows the correlation between images and words, not the further context and meaning behind them. While the apple and shoreline will be clearly defined, the small details will likely be muddled and confusing. The AI doesn't know that these smaller details are important as the apple and beach, unless they are told so. By contrast, everything in a human painting is clearly defined, because it was painted with care and intention. Because of this, AI can't make abstract art, because it goes against everything they were taught. An AI doesn't know that an artwork doesn't need to look like anything/something, because that's not how the AI was trained.
