A bad workman blames his tools, a good one knows his tools' strengths and weaknesses. Using Copilot to write large parts of your code is stupid. Use it to fill in missing parts, to save time on boilerplate, to ask it questions or to get unstuck on certain stuff. Copilot gives me helpful code thanks to context clues as well; it pretty much perfectly fits in. However, you still need a basic understanding to recognize bad code when you see it. If you dont, you're either not as clever as you think you are, or you havent thought enough about use case/exceptions your code might face. ALSO, if you write good foundational code then Copilot will write better code on top. Since its an additive process, Copilot will write bad code if it fits in with other bad code. Thats on you.
