I only draw as a hobby, but the GPT-backed art generation tools I've seen during the past year left me in a state of bitterness. We all knew this was coming, but when you see it in action, it's not the same thing. I feel like all these hours I spent on improving my drawing skills were useless. I'm still drawing for an hour or two every evening, and I still enjoy it, but it's like the "fire" isn't as strong as before... I'm afraid this will be like any other technological revolution : humans will do less, the machine (or the tool) will do more, we will lose a part of our humanity in the process and this will be unavoidable and irreversible. Is there a way to prevent AI training with our artworks ? What if anyone can run an AI model on his workstation and feed it any visual data he finds ? TV, books, the Internet... I'm not even sure if it makes sense. After all, we also are neural networks that learn by seing each other's works... aren't we ? Can we forbid other artists to use the artworks they saw as inspiration ?
