SUPER UNPOPULAR OPINION INCOMING: I really don’t care about deepfake porn, I think people are overreacting, and yes that includes the “victims”. It isn’t that it shouldn’t distress anyone, it’s that this existed since the dawn of time. People have used their imagination to do exactly this since literally forever. Yes you can say that it was never so easily disseminated as this, or done with such ease and anonymity… but technology of this kind is always just an expression of human nature. We use these technologies to do what we want, some of that includes imagining robots fighting ninjas, and a large portion includes sexual fantasy. The only reason for all of this proverbial pearl clutching is prudishness around sex thrust onto our culture by Christianity and other oppressive religions. People want to imagine sex with celebrities. Are you surprised? People started using AI tech to imagine their sexual desires almost immediately. Are you surprised? Some people with access to the technology created consumable content that they can charge money for, oh noooo, did capitalism catch you off guard? Some people on the internet are mean and do deep fake porn to make people mad. ARE YOU SURPRISED? REALLY? You’re not mad about deep fake porn. You’re mad about human nature. You’re mad that the pace of technology is exceeding the rate of human development- and haven’t we been complaining about that since the early 1900’s? I grant you full freedom to be as upset as you want, for the record, but I just don’t come bearing buckets of sympathy. It’s a far cry from “your life being ruined”. Dude. Get over yourself. So sorry you’re all dealing with the logical conclusion of what this technology was inevitably going to do 🎊 🎉🤷‍♀️🙄
