the AI might have had the sci-fi novel in its training corpus.. The problem is human acting on the langauge output or wiring physical world action to the language "parrotted" tropes.... like government actors basing policy on such language. I agree alignment is actually putting science in this magic sauce. Not only about safety but about understanding what is happening.
