To be honest, I don't know why someone would think "Yeah, I sure would love to make something that's not going to be abused in the future." These people, while they have ambitious ideas, don't realize what other people can do with the tech you've created, for nefarious, infamous, or controversial purposes. It's this reason why I've thought of something similar like this back in January 2012, but called the "Voice And Sound Transfer", that was basically a device similar to the TASCAM XLR Recorder, where you basically take audio clips (ranging from tv shows, to recording someone else's voice) between 5 to 20 seconds, then save it into the device, and it will create a voice preset that, get this, when you hook up your own microphone, then hook up the device via USB or some other audio input/output method, and then turn on headphone monitoring and speak into the microphone, you would be able to speak exactly like that voice actor or person yourself. So it would be the equivalent of taking someone else's voicebox and using it for fun or for hobbyist purposes. However, upon thinking of these, and while I have thought of this originally made for Youtube Poop style of audio recordings, I realized three things: 1. Copyright Infringement issues in terms of voice actors and media. 2. Moral and Privacy rights issues (including voice identity theft), 3. Governments could use my device to spy on people, as well as mimic someone else's voice that sounds familiar to you, but in reality it's a decoy. Hence why it never got made, but it was a cool idea on paper if you were to ask me about it in January 2012, but it never got past the idea phase because of the three consequences it would happen if it ever became real. But seeing what A.I, or as I like it call it a "Generating Software Program" type of creation, it'll get worse if it's not checked, and it can definitely cause a massive rift in what's real and what's not. But again, it's only stuck to virtual/digital/screen displays, not so much real life for the time being (but that can change once we get into the 2030s/2040s and beyond).
