If there were to be big regulation efforts, only the big tech companies would be capable of spending the capital to adhere to those to compete. The irony is, your exact fears about a small group of greedy fucks controlling everything is exactly what would happen if big regulations were put in place and AI wasn't left entirely open source for low-level competitors to provide a hard check to the consolidation of power by the already insanely controlling tech giants. Do you really trust only companies like Microsoft, Google, or OpenAI with being the ONLY options out there? Like it or not, the technology is out there now, and limiting who can wield it will only consolidate power into the hands of the big spenders even more.
