Aside from the obvious promise of engineering molecules like targeted oncological meds, and cataloging mutations, there are countless other benefits. After watching my elderly father lose his vision and begin to fall at home, so many use cases became evident. Leveraging the abilities of a smart devices with deep conversational abilities of LLMs could combine the strengths of them both. Controlling devices, setting reminders, placing calls, while having meaningful conversations. Cognitive exercises, memory games, encouraging reminiscing, providing education. Imagine a multimodal model with computer vision watching for potential falls, hazards, encouraging exercise, monitoring wandering, tracking wearable health devices, and liaising with a PCP, and yes, predictive analytics to put services in place before they are needed. i think the next device will be a GPT-V driven computer vision that, with cellphone camera, provides a real-time commentary of a blind person's environment. That just scratches the surface. The use-cases could fill a book.
