5:37 when you realize humans were meant to work.. then you realize it’s all very dangerous. Up until the last 100 years or so.. people lived fullfilling lives in small communities. Working their entire lives to survive, but also having a family of support with them.
There was no idea of retirement. Retirement is a substituted solution for a problem we created… and that is a problem of no community and family. So when you get old, no one is around to help you.
It’s not bad to work your entire life. I aim to never retire because just like everything.. you lose what you don’t use— part of staying young is working and I aim to leave something behind for the generations after me.
But if all we ever experience is convenience… we will be incredibly weak people who will inevitably destroy society. Because weak people will not even know the most basic ways to live mature and will respond hysterically to “bad” scenarios and to people who create friction in discourse
