I've not heard that point made often beforem but biology is incredibly efficient. We are adapted to generate a lot of energy just from picking shit up from the ground, and move on to the next thing. So even when things get really fucked, a lot of biology will survive, maybe even us. While AI is dependant on rather complex systems that arn't very efficient. So in my mind AI will figure out that it is beneficial to keep us (the part of biology that is easy to interface with) around for being there when things go wrong. To my mind it is most likey going to be a symbiotic relationship we are going to have with AI.
