"Humans learn from other artists too," but if we gave their AI models the same rights and restrictions as a human artist, like to wages, breaks, the ability to refuse work, and the ability to hold its own copyright, I'm sure they suddenly wouldn't want that comparison made any more.
They want their AI models to be comparable to humans only to the extent that they can shunt the legal liability of IP infringement onto them. In every other way, they want to treat it like a tool.
