by the way, you do realize that dr hinton is like 75 years old, and is only retiring because of his age, after working his entire life to develop the ai you think he's so opposed to. you'd think if he was really all that concerned he would have quit the field, like, 20 years ago maybe? 30 years? no, it's obvious that this story cherry picks the views of an old guy who's no doubt got way more thoughts on the subject than you could possibly dream of, conveying only the occasional reservations he occasionally speculates on, about how this stuff might potentially be used. but it reflects what you want to believe, so that's what you go with. are you supposed to be the guys with the open minds? when does that happen?
