Even $28 for a 10 mile trip is way too expensive vs owning a car, or even better, leasing a car if you don't drive over their allotted mileage of 800 to 1000 miles a month. There are many lease cars with monthly payments under $300. Even with drive off costs usually around $3000 to $4000 this is way cheaper a way to drive. For Waymo and Tesla's Taxi they're going to have to price themselves considerably less. You can really save money by buying a good used car after it's depreciated to a fraction of it's original price.
