Vibe coding is great, but only if you actually know what you’re doing. In the hands of someone who understands logic, systems, code, and architecture, AI can be a powerful tool because it speeds up the work. But it still requires constant oversight: you have to review, fix, and refine what the AI produces in real time. AI also has a limited context window, which means it often doesn’t remember what it wrote 5,000 lines earlier or fully understand how different systems, files, and databases connect. That’s why you still need a human in the loop to provide direction, maintain coherence, and audit the results. The problem with vibe coding is that some people assumed AI could make them developers without the underlying knowledge. It can’t. If you don’t understand the fundamentals, you won’t be able to catch mistakes, connect the pieces, or fix what breaks. That’s also where many tech companies made a mistake: they treated AI as a replacement for engineers, when in reality it works best as a force multiplier for skilled ones. AI coding has made strong developers faster and more effective, but it hasn’t replaced them.
