WARNING: A LOT OF TEXT INCOMING my two cents on this is the fact that nowadays, almost everything seems to be fast, easy consumption; gone are the days where you have to spend hours searching for recipies on the internet, buying the ingredients and making it yourself, now, you can eat whatever you want by ordering it on doordash or whatever delivery app. one of my own theories (and, admittedly, maybe me projetcting my insecurities before i started actually trying) as of why ai "art" has been on the rise is because our fear of doing something bad (probably incited by the rise of cringe culture a few years ago), as there are some people that would've laughed at a drawing a 7 year old made and felt proud of, or something a beginer artist might consider their best work yet, and, maybe, with so many talented artists on the internet, posting speedpaints of incredible works, this could lead to some sort of discouraging thoughts; "look at that person, they're drawing masterpices so effortlessly while i spend hours drawing something mediocre, it's not worth it." without realizing that good/catching art takes years to practice and master. now, with AI, you can go straight to the final product, you can finally create that stunning piece of work you have dreamed of without suffering those long hours of practice; it's fast, easy creation from part of the computer, just for someone to look at it for less than a minute and forget about it as they enter tiktok, reels, or whatever. you have created the artwork you have always dreamt of, but, at what cost, anyway? an artist's style that could've been has now been lost, killed at the hands of convenience lead by profit, in exchange for an image that looks excactly the same. what could've been a rainbow of expression, passion and love, is now a piss filtered attempt of an ai to immitate the ghibli artstyle. ai is the epitome of the loss of patience we have fallen into in the last few years. but, i like to remain optimistic; as long as there are people willing to spend those hours expressing themselves, regardless of what someone else might think of it's quality, there is hope, and the light at the end of the tunnel will stay on, hopefully for long.
