We’re a very long way off from ‘most’ jobs being replaced by AI. A humanoid robot for example that can replace plumbers, construction workers, etc is probably going to be prohibitively expensive for some time so hiring illegals will still be more desirable for some time. AI can help expedite tasks done in many white color jobs such as finance and software development but a lot of decision making or more creative roles will still have to be filled by thinking humans. No doubt some jobs will be displaced but guessing it will be a slowdown of hiring over time rather than massive, sudden job losses. Humans have mostly abandoned reproduction outside the 3rd world anyhow so that also minimizes the job destruction of AI. We’ll need automation to maintain our lifestyles as our societies hollow out.
